When chemistry makes demands: The tight solution that secured operations in the pulp industry
In processes where chemicals are handled, there is no room for compromise. When a customer in the pulp industry experienced recurring operational problems when dosing hydrogen peroxide, a solution was required that was safe, reliable and completely leak-proof.
Working closely with our long-term partner Pompetravaini, we at Colly Flowtech were able to find a pumping solution that not only eliminated leakage risks, but also reduced maintenance needs and created a more stable process. The result? A safer, more efficient and cost-effective operation day after day.
The challenge: A demanding chemical process
Hydrogen peroxide is used in the bleaching process in the pulp industry and is a chemical with strong oxidizing properties. This places very high demands on both materials and construction.
The customer's existing gear pump had been causing leakage risks and breakdowns for a long time, leading to production disruptions and increased maintenance costs. The previous shaft seal design became a weak point, both from a safety and operational point of view.
To ensure stable and safe operation, the customer needed a solution that:
- Dealt with the aggressive properties of hydrogen peroxide.
- Coped with the pressure and temperature variations of the process.
- Was fully sealed and required minimal maintenance.
The solution: Magnetic drive multistage pump from Pompetravaini
After a careful review of process data, flows and pressure levels, we recommended a Pompetravaini multistage magnetic drive centrifugal pump, specifically designed for chemical handling in harsh environments.
The pump's magnetic drive design replaces the traditional shaft seal with a fully sealed magnetic coupling, eliminating the risk of leakage. In addition, the multi-stage hydraulic design provides stable flow and constant pressure even at low capacities.
With components made of acid-proof stainless steel and a design adapted to high demands, the solution was both safe and durable. Together with Pompetravaini, we were able to ensure the right design and material selection, from needs analysis to installation.
Mattias Jansson, Product Manager Pump at Colly Flowtech, led the project and puts it this way:
”We quickly realized that a magnet-driven solution was the way to go. It completely eliminates leakage risks and requires virtually no maintenance, which makes a big difference to the customer's operational reliability,”

The result: Stable operations and reduced maintenance
After installation, the customer has achieved stable and trouble-free operation. The new pump has made the process both safer and more cost-effective, while drastically reducing maintenance requirements.
For the customer, this means several concrete improvements in daily operations:
- Fully sealed solution and no risk of leakage.
- Less downtime and lower service costs.
- Higher availability and longer equipment lifetime.
By combining Pompetravaini's technical expertise and product knowledge with our experience of processes and customized solutions, together we created a solution that delivers both reliability and security over time.
For the customer, this means more than just a new pump, it means a long-term partnership where we are there all the way: from needs analysis and technical advice to installation, follow-up and continued support. A partnership that not only resulted in a more stable process, but also in a stronger confidence in both the technology and the collaboration.
