Parker front clamping ring made of Alloy 400 for a 3/16" Parker tube coupling. The clamping ring is one of the most critical components in a clamping ring coupling and requires a carefully engineered design, the right metallurgical properties, and high precision in manufacturing to function correctly. During installation, the clamping ring must be deformed in a precise and controlled manner—both elastically and plastically—to grip the tube securely and create a tight connection. The front gripping edge of the clamping ring must be harder than the pipe in order to grip and seal even over minor scratches and surface defects. If the entire clamping ring is too hard, however, it cannot deform correctly. Therefore, only the clamping edge of the clamping ring is hardened, while the remaining parts have other, carefully controlled mechanical properties. The hardening process must also preserve the material’s corrosion resistance. Furthermore, the manufacturing process ensures that the clamping rings are free of defects, meet tight tolerances, and satisfy specified metallurgical requirements.Parker Hannifin -
