Specialized Rupture DiscsPOS-A-SET® Rupture Disc
Relieve ultra-low vacuum or positive pressure conditions with the highly accurate, bidirectional POS-A-SET rupture disk. Our double-acting design allows the POS-A-SET to do the work of two rupture disks with just one installation point. It relieves low positive pressure (as low as 1 inwc) with a girdle and knife-blade assembly on one side, while slightly higher negative pressure is relieved from the other side with perforations and a pre-cut section. Looking for the CAL-VAC rupture disc? Nearly identical to the POS-A-SET rupture disc, the CAL-VAC relieves ultra low-pressure in the negative direction - the inverse of the POS-A-SET's ultra-low relief in the positive direction.Continental Disc Corporation -

Forward-Acting Rupture DiscsComposite 30° Seat Rupture Disc
A versatile line of high-performance, corrosion-resistant rupture discs, our composite discs are ideal for systems that require lower burst pressures than standard discs can provide. Our composite rupture disks consist of two or more metallic or non-metallic components. The components typically consist of a metallic top section and a metallic or non-metallic seal with optional vacuum support, protective rings, gaskets or outlet liner. This rupture disc is a 30° angular “light lip” seat, ideal for normal operating pressures. If you're looking for superior metal-to-metal sealing, choose our composite flat seat design instead. .Continental Disc Corporation -
Forward-Acting Rupture DiscsENVIRO-SEAL Rupture Disc
Need an economical corrosion barrier or environmental seal? The ENVIRO-SEAL rupture disc will do the job with excellent performance and a non-fragmenting design. The ENVIRO-SEAL is a flat seat, composite rupture disc that installs between standard bore ASME, DIN or JIS companion flanges. Use it to isolate the downstream side of low-pressure atmospheric store vessels, pressure relief valves and other equipment from corrosive environments.Continental Disc Corporation -
Forward-Acting Rupture DiscsGRAFSERT Rupture Disc
A single, solid, phenolic resin-impregnated slab of graphite makes up the GRAFSERT rupture disc. This design makes the GRAFSERT a highly dependable, low-maintenance rupture disc, ideal for highly corrosive applications and remote installations. The GRAFSERT is single-direction disc capable of withstanding burst ratios up to 80% in static service.Continental Disc Corporation -
Forward-Acting Rupture DiscsComposite Flat Seat Rupture Disc
A versatile line of high-performance, corrosion-resistant rupture discs, our composite discs are ideal for systems that require lower burst pressures than standard discs can provide. Our composite rupture disks consist of two or more metallic or non-metallic components. The components typically consist of a metallic top section and a metallic or non-metallic seal with optional vacuum support, protective rings, gaskets or outlet liner. This rupture disc features a flat seat design for superior metal-to-metal sealing. If you're looking for a 30° angular “light lip” seat, ideal for normal operating pressures, try our Standard 30˚ seat rupture disk.Continental Disc Corporation -
Forward-Acting Rupture DiscsStandard 30° Seat Rupture Disc

Learn more about blasting caps
What is a blasting cap?
A bursting diaphragm is a reliable safety solution to protect industrial facilities against overpressure and vacuum. The component consists of a thin metal diaphragm designed to burst at a precisely predetermined pressure.
Rupture discs are widely used in piping systems, tanks and process equipment in the chemical, energy, food and pharmaceutical industries, among others. They are available in several dimensions and pressure classes, making them adaptable to many different applications.
How does a blasting cap work?
The bursting diaphragm acts as a passive protection that is activated when a critical differential pressure is reached. When the diaphragm ruptures, the system is immediately relieved and the risk of damage to equipment or leakage of hazardous media is minimized. Since the rupture disc has no moving parts, opening takes place in a few milliseconds and the function is both predictable and stable over time.
Advantages of blasting plates
Bursting discs offer several advantages over traditional safety valves in the right applications. They provide very fast and accurate pressure relief and are completely tight during normal operation, preventing unwanted leakage.
The simple design means minimal maintenance and a long service life, often several years without the need for replacement. In addition, rupture discs are a cost-effective solution that can be used with gases, liquids and mixed media in a wide range of industries.
