Conversion table for volume measures: m³, liters, cm³, US gallons and cubic feet

Volume measurements

The volume table helps you quickly convert between different volume units from both the metric system and the British/American measurement systems. The table is used when working with, for example, machines, containers, pumps, piping systems or fluid handling where specifications may be given in different standards.

Common volume units and their abbreviations

  • cu in (cubic inch / kubiktum) - small volumes in engineering, industrial and component terms.
  • cu ft (cubic foot) - used in construction, ventilation and storage volumes.
  • US quart / US gallon - US liquid packaging and processing equipment.
  • Imp. quart / Imp. gallon - British system of measurement (used in some industries).
  • cm³ (cubic centimeters) - small volumes, laboratories, packaging, technical specifications.
  • dm³ (liters) - standard for liquid volumes, packaging and technical data.
  • m³ (cubic meters) - large volumes in industry, logistics, tanks and processes.
