When sulfuric acid set the requirements: How we created control in a complex hose system
In process environments involving highly concentrated sulfuric acid there is no margin for error and here a PTFE hose for aggressive chemicals crucial. A different choice of material or an inconsistent connection can quickly lead to disruption and increased costs.
For an OEM developing customized solutions, this became crucial. Success required more than the right component - it required structure, reduced complexity and a sustainable standard from the start.
Together with Fluortubing, we at Colly Flowtech delivered the technical expertise and quality assurance that the project required. The result was a unified solution where safety, reliability and sustainability were the driving values.
The challenge: Variety, aggressive media and need for structure
The project consisted of more than 50 hoses in different dimensions and lengths, adapted for several operating cases and media.
This meant that the solution needed to be flexible, but not compromise on safety. Sizing could not be based on an average, but on the most stressful scenario: handling highly concentrated sulphuric acid.
This operating case set the framework for the whole design. We started from the highest chemical load when selecting materials, building the hose and setting the connection principles - although the impact varied between different positions in the system.
The challenge was therefore about more than chemical resistance. The project required a structured end-to-end solution that:
- Works in multiple use cases - robustness
- Ensures compatibility with different media - risk minimization
- Is designed for the most aggressive scenario - security
- Limits unnecessary variation and complexity - long-term efficiency
Without a clear strategy, the team risked creating a patchwork of specialized solutions, which would have taken considerably more time to document, reuse and manage over time.
The customer therefore needed not only hoses that could withstand media, but a well thought-out standard that provided control in a complex system. PTFE hose for aggressive chemicals is often crucial in such situations.
The solution: PTFE hose for aggressive chemicals and consistent implementation
We at Colly Flowtech participated early in the dialog and secured the right technical decisions right from the start. Together with Fluortubing, we analyzed the application and chose a clear strategy:
By assuming the worst-case load, we created a solution with a built-in safety margin, high process stability and minimized risk of future deviations. The result was a comprehensive PTFE - Fluoroflow concept where each part contributes to reliability and control:
PTFE lined flow path - chemical-resistant PTFE hose throughout the hose
A fully PTFE lined flow path throughout the hose and out into the coupling ensures maximum chemical resistance and eliminates weak points in the construction. Tri-Clamp connections provides a simplified service experience. The outer EPDM coating creates robustness and safer handling in operation. It is in practice a PTFE hose for aggressive chemicals where each component is selected to reduce risk and simplify operation. In addition, PTFE hose for aggressive chemicals can contribute to the long-term safety of the system.
Modular construction without welding - repeatable quality
The modular design, with no welding, provides structural integrity, repeatable quality and simplified service. All hoses were pressure tested to 4.5 bar design pressure for verified performance and documented safety. With 3.1 material certificates and full traceability, transparency, quality assurance and long-term control were ensured throughout the life cycle.
A solution built for aggressive chemistry, but equally for safety, standardization and future-proof operation.

The result: Lower risk, easier installation and better predictability
Together with Fluortubing and the customer's technical team, we at Colly Flowtech developed a hose system that produced clear effects:
- Significantly reduced chemical and operational risk
- Fewer misconnections thanks to consistent connection principle
- Easier installation without welding
- Clear documentation and quality-assured delivery
- A reusable concept for future projects
The biggest gain was increased predictability.
By replacing project-unique solutions with a defined standard, the customer gained better control over material selection, deliveries and future spare parts. Which in turn reduces the total cost. Finally, it is clear that PTFE hose for aggressive chemicals improves robustness over time.
Technology, experience and the right partners create innovative solutions
The project shows how the right level of standardization creates control in complex and chemically demanding environments.
With Fluortubing's specialist expertise in PTFE and our understanding of the application, we at Colly Flowtech were able to take responsibility for the whole, from analysis and material selection to finished delivery and future structure.
Therefore, when the right technology is combined with the right partnership, it creates not only a safe installation, but a solution that lasts over time.
