How a heat exchanger works
A heat exchanger is designed to transfer energy between two different media without mixing them. The process takes place in several stages:
Separate flows
Two channels are used - one for the warmer medium and one for the colder. These are often called the primary and secondary side.
Transfer from the hot medium
The hot liquid or gas passes through its channel and emits energy to a surface, such as tiles or pipe walls.
Energy to the cold medium
The colder medium flows on the other side of the surface and absorbs the heat, without coming into direct contact with the hot flow.
Outlet
By the time the media leaves the heat exchanger, the temperature has changed: the hot media has cooled down and the cold media has warmed up.
The benefits of heat exchangers
Investing in a heat exchanger is not just about technology - it's a smart way to boost both operations and profitability. Here are some of the key benefits:
High energy efficiency
Reduces heat losses and ensures maximum use of resources.
Lower costs
More efficient energy use brings clear and long-term savings.
Environmental benefits
Reducing energy consumption leads to lower emissions and contributes to sustainability goals.
Operational safety and stable temperature
Provides smoother processes, increased capacity and reduced risk of disruption.
Adaptable solution
Can be designed for different industries, applications and spaces.
Safety in the process
The media are kept separate, which increases safety and reduces the risk of overheating or unwanted reactions.
