Colly Flowtech is expanding its pump lineup with Cognito, a series of electrically driven diaphragm pumps designed for demanding industrial applications. With significantly lower energy consumption, few wear parts, and a seal-less design, these pumps offer an alternative to traditional compressed-air-driven diaphragm pumps.

In the industrial sector, pumps used to handle abrasive and viscous fluids must meet high performance standards. At the same time, there is a need to reduce energy consumption and avoid costly production stoppages.

The Cognito series includes electric diaphragm pumps in sizes ranging from 1 to 4 inches, including Heavy Duty models for applications with high demands on flow and operational reliability.

Electric diaphragm pumps with lower energy consumption

Unlike traditional compressed-air-driven diaphragm pumps The Cognito series is powered by electricity. According to Cognito, the technology can reduce energy consumption by up to 75 percent compared to compressed-air-powered alternatives, depending on the application and operating conditions, and is very quiet.

Reducing the demand for compressed air also reduces the load on the plant’s compressors. This, in turn, contributes to lower energy costs, reduced wear and tear, and less need for maintenance of the compressed air system.

Cognito’s electric diaphragm pumps also feature a seal-less design with few wearing parts, which reduces the need for routine maintenance. They are also designed to handle demanding media, such as slurries and liquids with high viscosity or abrasive particles.

Another advantage is that the pumps can operate reliably even when running dry. Diaphragm rupture indicators are included as standard and make it possible to detect any diaphragm damage. For applications requiring a more consistent flow, the pumps can also be equipped with pulse dampers.

Morgan Malm, Sales Manager for Pumps at Colly Flowtech, sees great potential in electric technology:

“We’re seeing that more and more customers want to reduce their energy consumption without compromising operational reliability. With the Cognito series, we can offer an alternative to compressed-air-driven diaphragm pumps, especially for operations where the pumps run for long periods and energy costs become a significant portion of the total operating cost.”

Designed for demanding processes

Cognito's electric diaphragm pumps are suitable for several industrial sectors, including the chemical, paint, ceramics, and mining industries, as well as operations in waste management and the manufacture of adhesives and starch.

One example of a demanding application is the pumping of natural latex. The properties of this material can cause problems in pumps with traditional shaft seals, where leaks can lead to recurring maintenance and unplanned production stoppages.

The seal-less design of the Cognito series can reduce the risk of such problems and contribute to more reliable operation.

It is also possible to monitor the pump’s operation and performance. This gives businesses a better foundation for planning preventive maintenance and detecting anomalies before they affect production.

Technical expertise and local service

Colly Flowtech offers technical consulting and helps customers choose the right pump based on their processes, fluids, and operating conditions. With extensive experience in industrial pump systems With our local presence, we can support our customers from pump selection through installation, operation, and maintenance.

Mikael Hjort, Technical Support for Diaphragm Pumps at Colly Flowtech, emphasizes the importance of choosing the right pump technology:

“When we help a customer, we look at the entire application, not just the capacity the pump needs to have. It’s also about what fluid is being pumped, what the process looks like, and what problems the customer has experienced in the past. With Cognito, we gain another option for solving applications where traditional pumps may struggle to perform reliably over the long term.”

With Cognito's electric diaphragm pumps, Colly Flowtech is strengthening its offering in energy-efficient and reliable flow technology for the industrial sector.
