Sight glasses installed in a VARINLINE® access unit or in a connection flange on tanks and vessels are used for visual monitoring of the product. For optically dense media, lighting with adjustable brightness is recommended. VARINLINE® sight glasses can be adapted to VARINLINE® housings or tank connections and enable visual inspection of the processed medium. The sight glass is made of borosilicate glass and, depending on the size of the glass, can be used within a pressure range of -1 to 25 bar. However, the maximum permissible pressure for the surrounding equipment must always be taken into account. To enable clear visual inspection even of cloudy or opaque liquids, supplementary lighting is recommended. The long-lasting LED lighting is equipped with 20 LEDs and is available with a connected cable in lengths of 2 or 25 meters. The 2-watt lighting is activated by a sensor. For installation in potentially explosive areas, an ATEX-approved lighting option without a sensor is also available.

The connection unit, known as the VARINLINE® housing, is the core component of the pocket-free in-line system for control and measurement in piping systems. Depending on the housing’s nominal size and the height of the connected instruments, up to two instruments can be mounted on a single VARINLINE® housing. For smaller nominal sizes, such as DN10 and DN15, as well as ISO 13.5 to ISO 21.3, only one instrument can be mounted. To adapt the housings to different pipe sizes, the VARINLINE® system offers four different sizes of process connections.
