The clamping ring is one of the most critical components in a clamping ring coupling and requires a carefully engineered design, the right material properties, and high precision in manufacturing to function correctly. During installation, the ferrule must deform precisely—both elastically and plastically—to provide a secure grip on the tube while creating a tight connection. The front edge of the ferrule must be harder than the tube to ensure a secure grip and seal even over minor scratches and surface defects. If, on the other hand, the entire clamping ring is too hard, it cannot deform properly. Therefore, only the gripping edge of the clamping ring is hardened, while the remaining parts have carefully controlled mechanical properties. The hardening process is also designed so as not to impair the material’s corrosion resistance. The manufacturing process ensures consistently high quality, tight tolerances, and stable metallurgical properties.
