Front and Rear Clamping Rings for Double Clamping Ring Pipe Fittings – A-LOK Series

Parker front clamping ring made of Alloy 400 for a 3/16″ Parker tube coupling. The clamping ring is one of the most critical components in a clamping ring coupling and requires a carefully engineered design, the right material properties, and high-precision manufacturing to function properly.

During installation, the clamping ring must be deformed precisely—both elastically and plastically—to provide a secure grip on the pipe while creating a tight connection. The front edge of the clamping ring must be harder than the pipe in order to grip and seal even over minor scratches and surface defects. If, on the other hand, the entire compression ring is too hard, it cannot deform properly.

For this reason, only the gripping edge of the clamping ring is hardened, while the other parts have carefully controlled mechanical properties. Furthermore, the hardening process is designed so as not to compromise the material’s corrosion resistance. The manufacturing process ensures consistently high quality, tight tolerances, and stable metallurgical properties.
