External [Ex] timers are used partly in conjunction with [Ex] luminaires that do not have an internal timer function. This is especially true for [Ex] luminaires with stainless steel housing, where magnetic transmission from an externally located button is not possible. On the other hand, external [Ex] timers are used when the timer function has to be activated from another location, for example from a control panel, instead of directly on the luminaire.

As the camera systems are intended for use over several decades, long-term availability of spare parts is of particular importance. The use of non-original spare parts invalidates the test certificate and can lead to safety risks.
