Supplier assessment to strengthen quality, reliability and long-term partnerships

By Julia Miefalk

Colly Flowtech employees analyze supplier data as part of the supplier assessment process.

At Colly Flowtech, our suppliers are a crucial part of our offering. Together, we build quality, deliverability and sustainability throughout the supply chain.

That's why our supplier assessment is not a separate activity, but an integral part of our management system. This is how we create stability in supply, reduce risks and ensure that our customers can rely on us over time

A structured process - with a focus on dialogue

Our supplier assessment is designed to be simple, clear and useful in everyday life. All new suppliers undergo a basic assessment where we evaluate their ability to deliver and their impact on our customers. We set requirements in areas such as quality, health and safety and the environment.

Depending on the importance of the supplier and the level of risk, we then conduct a more in-depth follow-up.

This means that we, among other things:

  • classifies suppliers according to risk to adjust the level of follow-up
  • uses self-assessments and supplier meetings as a basis
  • follow up on results and agreed actions

In this way, supplier assessment is not a one-off exercise, but a continuous and living part of the cooperation.

Sustainability is integrated throughout the process. For us, it is not just about meeting formal requirements, but about how the supplier actually works in practice. If we identify shortcomings, the aim is not to “trap”, but to have a constructive dialog and agree on concrete improvement measures and follow-up.

From requirements to partnership

For us at Colly Flowtech, ISO 9001 is not just about creating trustAn important goal of our supplier assessment is to create the conditions for close and long-term cooperation. Through clear expectations, common assessment criteria and regular follow-up, both we and our suppliers get a common picture of the current situation, risks and development areas. This in turn creates transparency and a solid foundation for joint development.

In practice, this means that:

  • recurring suppliers are monitored based on performance and deviations
  • improvement actions are documented and followed up in a structured way
  • and supplier development decisions are based on facts, not gut feelings

It provides a better basis for decision-making, clearer priorities and a more stable basis for cooperation.

To further strengthen relationships throughout the supply chain, we like to conduct joint visits with our customers to the supplier. This gives our customers the opportunity to evaluate the quality on site and ask questions directly, while we can jointly identify areas for improvement and ensure consensus on requirements and expectations.

The result is increased transparency, strengthened cooperation and greater security throughout the value chain.

A strategic tool for quality and security of supply

When supplier assessment is closely linked to our quality and sustainability processes, we can work proactively instead of reactively. We detect risks earlier, reduce non-conformities and strengthen supply security, while contributing to a more sustainable supply chain.

Our approach is also an important part of how we meet the requirements of ISO 9001, where structured supplier monitoring is a central part of quality work. By working systematically with assessment, follow-up and improvement, we ensure that quality is not just a goal, but an integral part of how we select and develop our suppliers.

For us, supplier assessment is therefore not an administrative requirement. It is a strategic tool to ensure quality, develop relationships and take responsibility together with our suppliers.
